Subject: [announce] Inaugural InCOB ExCo

Dear APBioNetters,

On Dec. 19. 2001, the APBioNet ExCo called for volunteers to
the inaugural InCoB Executive Committee (ExCo).

We thank all of you who have responded and were agreable to
contributing your time and efforts generously for the APBioNet cause.

Unfortunately, we had more volunteers than positions available, making
the selection procedure for the four representatives from countries
other than Thailand very difficult. Selection criteria included
- track record in the field of Bioinformatics
- geographic dispersion to cover the Asia-Pacific region
- statement of purpose.

The excellent candiates who were unsuccessful this time will be
offered positions in other exciting APBioNet Working Groups/
committees in the near future.

We would now like to announce the InCoB ExCo:

1. Shoba Ranganathan for Secretariat (APBioNet)
2. Tin Wee Tan for Secretariat (APBioNet)
3. Dr Prasit Palittapongarnpim from InCoB 2002 (Thailand)
4. Dr Royol Chitradon from InCoB 2002 (Thailand)
5. Prof. Mark Ragan, Australia ([email protected])
6. Prof. Jingchu Luo, China ([email protected])
7. Prof. Ashok Kolaskar, India ([email protected])
8. Dr. Allen Rodrigo, New Zealand ([email protected])

The committee reserves the right to co-opt any other member(s) if
essential.

The InCoB ExCo will prepare a bid document by 15 Feb. 2002, calling
for proposals to host InCoB 2003 (and the APBioNet AGM for 2003).

With kind regards,

Shoba Ranganathan
Vice-President, APBioNet
