Dear Dr Paganoni,

Training Workshop for the FAOBMB Conference Oct 2011

We are from the Singapore Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. We have been awarded the hosting of the 2011 Conference of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists and as Chair of its organising committee, we write to urge you to lend your support to the running of a EUAsiaGrid workshop on "Bioinformatics and Computational Molecular Biology on the Grid".

This workshop has kindly been agreed to be co-organised by the Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet) and the Association for Medical and Bioinformatics Singapore (AMBIS) as a satellite workshop of the FAOBMB Conference scheduled for next year in Singapore.

By word of mouth, we have heard about the tremendous work which has been undertaken by EUAsiaGrid to build a vast computational framework for high performance computing through grid technology gLITE. In particular, we have also heard of the very successful EUAsiaGrid BioWorkshop (http://trg.apbionet.org/euasiagrid) which has enabled quite a number of our colleagues in solving their biological problems through the use of your technological platform.

We hope that EUAsiaGrid will help us out in this workshop and provide introductory material to enlighten our conference participants on how to get their universities and institutes to participate in EUAsiaGrid and to contribute to that growing computing infrastructure which you are building.

Most of all, we hope that all our members and all our participants will be able to retrain themselves to achieve competency and proficiency in using such powerful technology which they will never be able to access anywhere in the world.

Thank you for your attention to this sincere request.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Koh Siok Im, Chairperson, The Organising Committee of FAOBMB 2011
and Vice President, Singapore Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SSBMB)
