Description

Workshop Synopsis:

This hands-on workshop introduces researchers to current capabilities of the redesigned Ensembl data platform. The platform supports diverse applications – from exploring variant annotation with Ensembl’s Variant Effect Predictor to identifying non-coding drivers of disease via regulatory annotations. Furthermore, the new platform integrates pangenome datasets, enabling researchers to study genetic diversity and structural variation across multiple genomic assemblies for the same species.

Participants will practice retrieving genomic data, analysing variants and customising views for regions of interest. Live demonstrations and exercises will reinforce skills in real time. This workshop also provides participants with the opportunity to connect with Ensembl experts from EMBL-EBI to troubleshoot research challenges, learn about ongoing developments, and share their feedback on the new website.

Intended audience:

This is an introductory workshop that is aimed at wet-lab scientists and bioinformaticians at all career stages who are new to using Ensembl, have not yet discovered the power and depth of the resource, or would like to explore the new data platform.
