Workshop 3: Introducing Glycoinformatics into Bioinformatics Workflows through GlyGen and GlyCosmos
$0.00
Description
Workshop Synopsis:
This 2.5hour interactive workshop will introduce participants to the GlyGen and GlyCosmos (members of the GlySpace Alliance) resources, starting with a one-hour overview and live demonstration of their capabilities. The second hour will focus on discussing use-cases that these resources support, particularly in the context of glycans, proteins, diseases, and biomarkers. Participants will then engage in hands-on sessions using their laptops to explore newly developed bioinformatics tools and datasets within GlyGen and GlyCosmos. Following a 15-minute break, the workshop will continue with a biocuration jamboree, where attendees will evaluate glycosylation sites identified using GlycoSiteMiner. This activity will utilize manuscripts pre-processed by the GlycoSiteMiner NLP/LLM pipeline, providing LLM-curated articles as starting points.
Intended audience:
The workshop is designed for attendees who are new to glycoinformatics and may not yet be familiar with incorporating glycan-related data into their bioinformatics analyses. It is geared towards students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty interested in expanding their research capabilities by incorporating glycoscience data and tools into their analyses.
