Halgamuge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/incob.apbionet.org\/incob23\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/saman.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1086\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Profile:<\/strong><br>Saman Halgamuge, Professor of University of Melbourne, Fellow of IEEE and IET, received the PhD in data engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany and BSc Engineering degree from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He is listed as a top 2% most cited researcher for AI and Image  rocessing in the Stanford database. His previous leadership roles include Head, School of Engineering at Australian National University and Associate Dean of the Engineering and IT at University of Melbourne. Currently, he is the Chief Investigator of two ARC Discovery projects, a NHMRC Synergy project and a project funded by US DoD Biomedical research program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Talk title<\/strong>:<br>Pushing the boundaries of Machine Learning for applications in Medicine<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract:<\/strong><br>I will highlight several key deficiencies of Machine Learning that makes it challenging to use in some experimental studies in Medicine. Several new Machine Learning methods we recently proposed are briefly introduced and their applications in medical research are discussed.
